The Office of the President and the Division of Student Affairs encourages you to join the celebration of diversity during People Awareness Week 2002, January 14 to January 18, 2002.

Celebrating its 12th year, People Awareness Week continues to promote interaction and positive relationships throughout the University of Florida and supports us in learning about each other. Weeklong festivities encourage the acceptance, respect, and appreciation of diversity throughout the campus in relation to race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, economic status and religious affiliation. You are encouraged to discuss barriers that exist in celebrating diversity and to develop strategies to eliminate these barriers.

Calendar of Events
Various programs that celebrate diversity will take place during People Awareness Week 2002. You are encouraged to join the celebration by sponsoring or co-sponsoring an event. Please forward calendar additions and or revisions to us as soon as possible so that we may assist you in highlighting your program. President's Humanitarian Awards
The Presidentıs Humanitarian Awards recognize student, faculty, staff, and community members who have made significant "humanitarian" contributions on campus and in the local community. You are encouraged to submit a nomination to the contact person listed on the nomination form by Friday, December 14, 2001. A member of each of the four categories will be selected and recognized at the President's Humanitarian Award Reception on Wednesday, January 16, 2002, at 1:00 p.m. in the Harn Museum of Art.
